Legacy Giving

A cash contribution isn’t the only way that you can support the work of Prescott Farmers Market; you can sustain our organization through your retirement and estate planning. Included below is information on how you can support Prescott Farmers Market by naming our organization in your will or living trust, or as a beneficiary in any retirement plan or life insurance you may have.

“My wife and I are in our sixties. Our children are well into successful careers. We are fortunate in retirement to be able to travel and enjoy our lives together. Denise and I both had careers in service and higher education, and we believe in supporting nonprofit organizations. For example, we support 4 students each year through our endowed scholarships at Yavapai College Foundation and the PUSD Education Foundation.

We have also been keenly interested in the programs of Prescott Farmers Market (PFM). Like everyone, we love the Saturday Market. In addition, PFM has a model Community Compost Program, and they are leading the charge to address food insecurity among county citizens. They are working tirelessly to strengthen and grow farming in this region, a relatively new but important economic driver. For these reason we have made a significant legacy gift through our family trust to PFM, payable upon our deaths. We can’t think of a better investment and it will come at a time when we no longer need these resources.”

A Bequest in a Will or Living Trust

A bequest is a gift from your estate that could be in the form of cash, securities, or other property, as provided for in your estate plan. A bequest to Prescott Farmers Market can be for a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or for all or a portion of what is left after you have made bequests to your family. To make a bequest to Prescott Farmers Market you may need to create a new will or living trust document, add a codicil to your existing will, or make an amendment to any existing trust you may have.

Suggested language that you can use to specify your bequest to Prescott Farmers Market is as follows:

“I hereby give [provide the dollar amount, percentage of estate, or specific gift or property that you intend to give] to Prescott Farmers Market, an Arizona non-profit corporation, for its unrestricted use, to support the mission and goals of the organization.”

You may also designate that your gift be used for a specific purpose in line with our current programs.  If you would like to pursue this option, please contact kathleen@prescottfarmersmarket.org.

Designating Prescott Farmers Market as a Beneficiary

You may also give to PFM by naming the organization as a beneficiary in a retirement savings account or life insurance policy that you may hold. We recommend that you contact your financial advisor, or representative of the applicable life insurance company, to obtain the form necessary to designate the Prescott Farmers Market as a beneficiary.
