Here we are: entering the coldest part of the year. The good news? Our local farmers are still growing food for us! (applause) Using row covers, hoop houses, and greenhouses, they are able to provide our community with an array of freshly harvested vegetables.
By selecting varieties that store well, farmers still have many squash, potatoes and bulbs available as well. This month you can find the following at the market (assuming you show up early!):
- Acorn squash
- Arugula
- Basil
- Beets
- Bok Choy
- Broccolini
- Butternut squash
- Carrots
- Cilantro
- Cucumber
- Daikon radish
- Garlic
- Kale
- Leeks
- Lettuce mix
- Mache
- Napa cabbage
- Onions
- Parsnips
- Potatoes
- Radish
- Shallots
- Spinach
- Sprouts
- Sweet potatoes
- Swiss chard
- Tomatoes
- Turnips
In addition to vegetables, we have chicken and eggs; tamales and empanadas; soaps and lotions; cutting boards and wooden spoons; and three bakeries selling all kinds of sweet treats.
