Featured Vendor: The Visket Farm

We recently interviewed Alex Visket of The Visket Farm.  She gave us all the details of the goodies under the teal topped tent!

Prescott Farmers Market: How long you have lived in Arizona?
Alex: I’ve lived in Arizona for four years.

What kind of products do you sell at your booth?
I sell a variety of goat milk products like Soap, Whipped Body Butter, Lip Balm, and Beard Balm.

I also sell chicken, quail, and duck eggs- whatever is produced on the farm that week.

How long have you been a vendor at PFM?
I was a vendor selling eggs in 2018 and took a year off in 2019 due to having baby boys back to back. Now I’ve returned in 2020 with all the goat milk products as well as eggs.

How do you get ready for the market?
The soap alone takes anywhere from 4-6 weeks for a bar to finish curing. I have to plan in advance for holiday-themed products.

What is your top-selling product?
Top sellers are definitely Soap and/or Body Butter.

How would you describe one of your products to someone who has never tried it before?
Raw goat milk is great for the skin.  It’s the base for all of my products and my goat milk comes from my own herd! All of our goats are registered with either the American Dairy Goat Association, Miniature Dairy Goat Association, or The Miniature Goat Registry. See some great photos and their profiles on my website.

How do your products differ from store-bought products?
I use organic ingredients and I try to locally source as many ingredients as possible.

What is special about your business?
I put a lot of careful thought into everything I make. I have a passion for what I do and it excites me to share my product with people.

What are your plans for the future?
I would like to make some of my own essential oils or even grow some of the details that I put in soap/body butter like lavender or rosemary.

Why is supporting local agriculture and business important to you?
I like to support locally owned and operated companies. I like to know what I’m buying and where it comes from. It is very important to me to keep my money local and in the pockets of my fellow farmers.

What is your favorite market memory?
It brings me so much joy when little kids come up to my booth and they want to smell and touch all the soaps, I like to see their reactions to different scents. At first, parents get nervous and tell their kids not to touch but as I having 3 small boys I think it’s good for kids to engage their senses and are able to see, touch, and smell.

What is your favorite product to buy from another PFM vendor?
I love Skull Valley Lavender products! Will’s sugars, salts, and lavender bunches are my favorite. I use them in my home, I love to give as gifts, and I also love to implement his lavender in my soaps and body butter when I can.

at any other markets?
I do not vend at any other markets at this time.

Do you have a final message for our PFM customers?
I take special orders and do a lot of unique soaps/balms for weddings, baby showers, birthdays, and more!
