
Kevin and Tina Fitzgerald are the owners and operators of Sun Valley Harvest (SVH), a mushroom farm and MushLuv, a mushroom catering business. They travel to Prescott each week from their home in Glendale to bring locally grown mushrooms to our community.
At the Prescott market SVH sells fresh mushrooms cultivated at their farm: Lobster mushrooms, Chanterelles, Morels, etc. They also make all kinds of mushroom products: powders, tinctures, teas, soaps and dried mushrooms. MushLuv provides customers with a full sandwich menu featuring grilled mushrooms and a recent addition of mushroom veggie soup. Most of the vegetables are from their garden or traded with farmers at the market for mushrooms.
Kevin and Tina recognize the irony of growing mushrooms, which require a moist environment to thrive, in one of the driest climates in the country. They grow their mushrooms in a climate-controlled room and in a greenhouse so they can grow year-round. In the future, the couple would like to purchase land in Northern Arizona so they can expand Sun Valley Harvest. Their dream is to have a larger operation, a storefront and educational seminars to support others who want to learn how to grow mushrooms. And in the meantime, for MushLuv, they just want to feed people mushrooms.
