PFM- How long have you lived in the area?
Sandie- I’ve been in Arizona since 1969 with a short 13 years in Colorado and then back to Arizona. We call Paulden home now.
How long have you been in business?
I was a baker for a Phoenix school system and after retiring, decided to let adults enjoy my delicious breads too. We started the business a year ago and began selling at a smaller market. We are now selling exclusively at PFM and have gathered quite a following since we joined in May.
How would you describe your bread to someone who has never tried it before? How does it differ from store bought bread?
My products are full of flavor and contain no preservatives. I bake standard breads including sourdough, potato, pumpernickel, and Swedish rye plus many specialty breads like peanut butter, white chocolate and berry, olive and roasted red pepper, apple spice and walnut, and date nut. I’m also known for my dessert loaves- banana, pumpkin, zucchini, chocolate chip and many more! Come stand inside our booth and you’ll be amazed at the variety, size and quality of all my home baked treats!
What is special about your bread?
My breads are different from store that bought products because they are all natural, contain no dyes, preservatives or fake ingredients. You can pronounce everything on the label and know exactly what you’re eating.
What is your top selling product?
The Jalapeño/Cheese bread is definitely a customer favorite!
Do you have a “fun fact” about Sandie & Bill’s Bread?
I love baking bread. I bake bread all day and then go to bed and dream about baking bread and experimenting with new flavor combinations. Then I get up the next morning and do it all over again!
How do you get ready for the market?
It takes me two days to bake all the breads, cookies and scones to get ready for the market. Everything is baked fresh, packaged, labeled and brought to market.
What is your favorite market memory?
Since I am newer to the market I still have countless market memories to make. The best so far is seeing repeat customers and hearing how much they love my breads.
Why is supporting local agriculture and business important to you?
Supporting local agriculture is best for the future of everyone’s health. Farm fresh really is the best.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are to continue baking bread and selling at PFM for as long as possible. We love the customers and the market atmosphere. There is nowhere else like it!
Do you vend at other markets? Which one(s)?
No, we vend exclusively at PFM and you”ll find us at every Saturday market as well as the Monthly Chino Valley Market.
How else can customers find you?
We don’t do social media or have a website. If you need to reach us you can email anytime with questions or a special order. Thanks, PFM customers, we will see you at the market!
