Featured Vendor: Little Portugal Bakery

We interviewed new PFM vendors Daniel and Christine Enright to learn more about their “Little Portugal Bakery”.

Tell us about yourself: We are both Portuguese and were inspired by our heritage to launch a family baking business. All of our traditional recipes have been handed down from both of our families. Everything we make is with simple ingredients, including our farm fresh eggs.

How long have you been in business?  We’ve been in business since February 2024 and have been a vendor at PFM since July 2024.

What do you sell? We sell Portuguese baked goods such as Massa sovada (sweet bread & bread pudding), Filhos (donuts), Biscoitos (tea biscuits), Cavacas (popovers), Rosquinha doce (sweet rolls), Suspiros (meringues), GF coconut cookies and chewy gingerbread cookies.

How would you describe one of your products to someone who has never tried it before? Our popular sweet bread is a rich and flaky version of common brioche with a citrus note.

How do your products differ from store bought products?  We are proud to use historical recipes which call for simple and basic ingredients.

What is your top selling product? Both our Sweet Bread and Gluten Free Coconut Cookies are top sellers.

What is special about your business? Traditional Portuguese recipes handed down from generations from both of our families are at the core of our business. That’s not very common and certainly makes our business stand out!

What are your business plans for the future? Our business plan includes expanding to a food truck. We’d then be able to offer Portuguese sandwiches and meat dishes as well.

Why is supporting local agriculture and business important to you? The food/product is handled with care. You can get to know the person who grew or made it.

What is your favorite product to buy from another PFM vendor? We love local honey and jams!

Do you have a “fun fact” about yourself, your business or product? Hawaiian rolls are a modified version of Portuguese sweet bread from the Portuguese sailors who traveled to Hawaii.

How do you typically prepare to attend the market? We bake non-stop so that we can bring the freshest goods to market!

Do you vend at other markets?  Yes, at the Prescott Valley Community market on Sundays and various pop up markets in the area.

What else would you like customers to know about you and your business? We make everything from scratch at home and love what we do.

How can customers stay in touch? Follow Little Portugal Bakery on Facebook and Instagram to see what’s happening in the bakery and visit us in person, on Saturdays at PFM in the middle row.
