We interviewed Wendy Razo to learn more about Jersey Girl Cheesecakes, our newest prepared food vendor at PFM.
Tell us about yourself: Jersey Girl Cheesecakes was born the summer of 2022 in Prescott Valley. What started at one local market has developed into a multi-site business with tent service utilizing our express menu and a food trailer that offers our full menu. We take great pride in offering a delicious treat made with fresh ingredients and no preservatives. We look forward to serving all who come to the Prescott Farmers Market!
What do you sell, generally speaking? At PFM we offer multiple flavors of soft serve cheesecakes in a jar. We have a food trailer at other locations which offers a full menu including cheesecakes in a cup, waffles, cream sodas, and cold brew.
How long have you been a vendor at PFM? We began with the start of the winter season on November 4, 2023.
How would you describe one of your products to someone who has never tried it before? A creamy cheesecake layered with a variety of flavors. Our cheesecake is naturally gluten free, which makes it a delicious dessert for many. We also offer a sugar free cheesecake which is a huge hit with diabetics and dieters alike!
How do your products differ from store bought products? Each small batch is lovingly made with no artificial ingredients or preservatives.
What is your top selling product? Layered Cheesecake Jars
What is special about your business? What sets you apart? Our primary product is cheesecake…that alone makes us a little different!
What are your business plans for the future? We will be expanding and begin to vend at weekend markets in the Phoenix area in early 2024.
Why is supporting local agriculture and business important to you? Shopping local is my favorite way to support our community and those who live here. As a local vendor, when someone purchases from us, we feel supported in our dreams and goals!
What is your favorite product to buy from another PFM vendor? The fresh produce is the best!
What is your favorite market memory? How nice and welcoming so many people were to us in our first day as a vendor at PFM.
How do you typically prepare to attend the market? We prep the day before and always try to get to the market early so that we’re not rushing and can take in the market feeling, which is something we really enjoy!
Do you vend at other markets? Which one(s)? Yes, we currently vend at the Prescott Valley Community Market on Sundays.
Do you have a “fun fact” about yourself, your business or product? Fun fact…I’m a mom to eight children, seven of them are girls!
What else would you like customers to know about you and your business? I get asked all the time if I’m really from New Jersey…and the answer is yes, I’m from Tom’s River, NJ.
How can customers stay in touch? Follow Jersey Girl Cheesecakes on Instagram and Facebook to see what flavors are available and where the food trailer will be throughout the week. And of course, visit us in person, under the tent, on Saturdays at PFM.
