Prescott Farmers Market Program
Community Food Hub
In the Fall of 2021, Prescott Farmers Market was awarded a 3-year grant to pilot a food hub, community kitchen, and small food business incubator program. The phrase “food hub” is relatively new; according to the USDA it refers to “a centrally located facility with a business management structure facilitating the aggregation, storage, processing, distribution, and/or marketing of locally/regionally produced food products.”
For us, all three of these pilot programs represent the Community Food Hub. While the opening of the community kitchen has taken first priority, we soon hope to offer our community partners an alternative for sourcing quality, fresh produce grown locally by the same farmers you see at our market each week. To keep up to date on these programs, follow us on Facebook or Instagram and sign up for our newsletter.
